Sorry, i forgot to mention that i'm trying to send data (ie. .rm, .wav etc.) to a nokia 3650, There must be an application in osx that enables a simple sending of small packets of data, irrespective of the file format. PC users just have to right click. Damn!!!

Search "Nokia" on MacUpdate or something. There are several applications.

What computer do you have? You might not have IrDA.

Belive me, i've checked long and hard. I have a firewire Powerbook G3 400 (No bluetooth) . There's a lot of chat on bluetooth enabling etc. I just want to send data to the nokia 3650 via IrDA (as i don't want to purchase a new powerbook at the moment. NOT to use as GPRS modem, It uses the symbian OS.

I appreciate the help.

Okay, that machine is IrDA capable, not just IRTalk. That's one potential problem down.

Have you been able to communicate with the phone using anything like Mr. Beam?

The Nokia 3650 is perfectly capable of sending and receiving files via IrDA, it can also connect laptops to the Internet (via GPRS or HSCD or plain old Data Calls) via IrDA, just like it can over Bluetooth.

If you want to connect you laptop to the Internet, download the Nokia 6310i modem script at http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ (yes it will work the the 3650, and it's free).

As for transfering files, well I don't know about that one, I know Mac OS X has a bluetooth file exchange utility, but I'm very surprised there isn't a similar program for IrDA.

You're just going to have to search for a third party Mac OS X application written for sending/receiving files over infra-red.

That's GSM Remote, you've pointed to in VersionTracker, it doesn't work with the Nokia 3650, 7650 or SonyEricsson P800 (doesn't support Symbian OS phones).
