Did you update your iPod, or just download the update? If it is like previous iPod update, look in /Applications for an updater app to run.

Try throwing out the iTunes prefs in ~/Library/Preferences. This happened to me one time also; I cannot remember what I did exacly to fix it, but it was some combination of deleting the prefs and resoring the iPod. Best luck!

OK, I had my iPod mounted on the desktop, with iTunes open. I quit iTunes and then restarted it without doing anything with the iPod. It saw the iPod and said it was up to date. I'm all set.

Just eject your iPod and plug it back in (maybe quit iTunes first)

it will work again.

I had the same problem. Quitting and restarting iTunes, plugging/unplugging iPod, etc wasn't working.

Rebooting the machine did, however.

Along with iTunes 4, there's new iPod drivers installed. (Go to the custom installation). I have a feeling that you'll have to reboot in order to see them.

The same thing happened to me, but I didn't really notice, because I rebooted with QT6.2, and worked from there.

I installed QT 6.2, reboot, reinstall iTunes 4 (deleted preferences previouslly), unplug and replug my iPod and the problem is still there....

BTW, when I try to custom install iTunes 4, the option for iPod drivers is dimmed... I looked for it inside iTunes4.mpkg and the software says that is not for my Mac (or something like that)...

I want my iPod back!!!!

I did the same thing.

My iPod only works with iTunes 3.0.1 and firmware 1.3 or 1.2.6

My iPod won't show up in iTunes 4 either. Yesterday applied all updates (Quicktime 6.2, iTunes 4, iPod 1.3) and everything was working fine. This morning, plugged in my iPod, it mounted on the desktop, then nothing. I launched iTunes and the iPod wasn't being shown. I've deleted iTunes prefs, restarted the computer, reinstalled iTunes, etc., several times and nothing has worked! Any other suggestions? Thanks.

After several more reinstall and restart attempts I got my iPod working. Don't know what caused all the drama, but definately an inconvenience that I've never experienced before this week's updates.

I too had this issue, but a restart of my machine (with the iPod plugged in at the time) fixed this.

Annoying.

I am having issues too. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

I can see my iPod on my desktop, but it is not found in iTunes. I have restarted, plugged and re plugged in and it simply will not work more often than not. Weird.

I had it working last night, and I made sure that my iPod preferences were to update all songs, and playlists, and not to use it as a disk drive.

I partially solved the problem.

Simply Restart your Mac WITHOUT your iPod attached to the FireWire port.

That's it!!
