In addition to the Apple stores selling the new iPods. Compusa will have them for sale first thing Friday morning. I got this reply from the Apple rep at my local store:

Wow, that's a surprise. It took a long time for the original ones to be in stores, at least where I live.

Personally, I wouldn't buy from CompUSA unless you're 100% sure you want the ipod, because their return policy is horrible. 15% restocking fee if you break the seal.

Best Buy and Circuit City have the best return policies; 30 day guarantee with no restocking fees. Also, I think that BB's extended warranty is cheaper/better (in my opinion, the iPod is one of the few things for which you need an extended warranty).
