iPods avalible friday, when do we get them?

so i ordered a 15gig iPod, apple says they are avalible friday, will they only be shipped to people who ordered off the site on friday? or will they be shipped so that people will get them on friday?
i chose the 2 day shipping, not the free one.

I ordered a 30gb, and the sight advirtised if you order them today you will get it by Friday afternoon. So that's what I think will happen. They will probobly ship them earlyer to get them by that date. That is my guess.

When Apple wants to make a shipment date, they'll make it.
When I ordered OS X 10.0 they upgraded my free ground shipping to Overnight Saturday delivery for no extra cost. That way, I had it on my doorstep the same day it was released in stores.
They will probably upgrade everyone to 1 or 2 day shipping for free and ship out Wednesday or Thursday.

that would be too cool. would make coming home from my english final *that* much better

confirmation e-mail says May5 for delivery.

Yep, most likely shipping will be upgraded so you GET them on Friday. Apple updated my free ground shipping to Overnight on my 17" PB without even telling/asking me, which rocked.
As for the engraving, yours should take about a week more, if you're lucky. Since it's new, it may take a bit longer.

i ordered the 30GB yesterday, when I ordered the 'estimated ship date' was May 2. today when i checked the order ststaus, the estimated ship date had changed slightly to 'on or before May 2' which indicates to me that Apple is indeed planning to mail these out before the 2nd and probably planning to have them delivered by Friday the 2nd.
also note the wording on the apple store, 'order today and get your new ipod by friday afternoon'. they don't so 'you could' get your ipod by then, they say 'get' which i think means that it is kinda a special deal that if you order now, they will make whatever shipping arrangments need be to get it to you by friday.
this actually isn't that suprising, with the massive amount of packages apple ships they surely have an enourmous deal with FedEx and get deep discounts that we probably wouldn't even believe if we saw them, so upgrading shipping from ground to 2-day is only a matter of a few quarters, which wouldn't keep apple from keeping its customers (who are buying their most profitable device) happy. say what you want about apple, but when people are buying the newest most expensive stuff, they always seem to really take care of things. (two months later is another story).
