Now my IPOD is really screwed up all i get is a apple sign on my ipod when I try to turn it on, it will not go off. I try to plug it back in my imac and it does nothing! Please help. What exactly do I do?

Try pressing the "Menu" button and the "Pause/Play" button (the top and bottom ones) at the same time, and hold down for about ten seconds.

How could you have ejected it if it didn't mount?

My 5GB iPod just stopped in the middle of a song and froze. All I would get was the Apple logo and then a black screen. It would mount on my PowerMac and play fine though.
Using a utility program (Greg's Browswer for OS 9), I made all the files "visible" and backed up my music folder to my PowerMac hard drive and then trashed it off the iPod. The iPod was still behaving the same. Making the files visible again, there are two preference files on the root folder of the iPod. I trashed them and unplugged my iPod. Did a reset and it was back to life! I copied my music folder back to the iPod and it works perfectly now. I just had to restore some custom settings which was no problem.
Hope this helps.
