Brother recently released new versions of its Mac OS X drivers for the multifunctional MFC-4800. According to their page it is now possible to send faxes directly from the Mac using Mac OS X 10.x. However I've been unable to find this new feature.
There's no documentation, and the RemoteSetup application (in /Library/Printers/Brother/Utilities/RemoteSetup) fails to start, with the following message:
Time-out error.
Make sure that:
-Brother PC-FAX is not running
-the MFC is not in function mode
-the MFC is not sendina a fax or receiving fax,
-the MFC is not printing or scanning
-the MFC is not machine error
The rest of the functions seem to work fine.
Any clues on how to set up the PCfax functions on Mac OS X 10.2.5?
P.S. You can download the drivers
http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/macosxdownload.htm (at least for MFC4800).
