I did a search here on the forums but I couldn't find out much of anything recent regarding an OS X 10.2 compatible smartmedia reader. Right now I've got both a Kodak Multi-Card Reader as well as a Zio SmartMedia reader but neither one works in 10.2. The Kodak works for both CF as well as the SD but not the SmartMedia while the Zio doesn't do much of anything at all.

Anyone know of a good inexpensive reader?

I have a FujiFilm SM-R2 SmartMedia drive (USB) that I got a few years ago free after rebate when buying my camera, it is supported with OS X software (no extra drivers needed, just connect to ANY OS X.2+ machine) and was supported in later versions of OS 9 as well.

Wow, I just looked it up and it's $100 at the minimum on the 1st sites I see, but I would think it would be like $30-$40, maybe you can get a used one.

---EDIT---

I just checked eBay - starting price $24.90, buy it now $32.50 (BTW, I use 64MB cards with it, 32 was all that was out at the time)

I found this site through dealmac.
I got mine for $12 but it looks like you can get them for $8 now.

edit: i guess livewarehouse doesnt allow linking. The reader I mention is a lexar USB CompactFlash/SmartMedia reader for $8. Do a search for "card reader" and it is the first result.

It is a great reader and has worked well in OS X for me. You need to install the drivers though. The bonus is, that it comes with a Cardbus card for your laptop to read CompactFlash. I don't believe that needs a driver though.

Hey, thanks for the help guys. I'm going to D/L the new Zio drivers right now. I'd just about given up on them so I hadn't checked for updated Zio drivers in quite some time.
