Hey,

My brother ordered a new iPod 10GB which has shipped and says it will be delivered tommorow. However, he didn't notice on the tech specs page that it requires OS 10.1.5 or greater. Is this just to use the store features of iTunes 4? Can he use it with iTunes 2 under OS 9.2.2 like the old iPod? He likes staying behind the times because he uses Quark.

The requirements in the User Guide say 10.1.x or higher. I'll try botting into 9 and giving it a shot though.

Thanks, I would really appreciate that. Be nice to know before we open it incase it has to be returned.

Okay just tried it in 9 and it shows on the desktop just fine and was recognized in iTunes 2 as well. I didn't try modifying playlists or moving songs around but those should work fine too. I'm not sure exactly what extensions related to the iPod I have for 9, this is a 1st gen MDD G4. The 9 folder is from the restore disc so if it doesn't work for him, let me know and I'll try to track down the extension.

I'm guessing the Apple listed requirments are just to get more people to use OS X and shop at the iTunes music store etc.

I think they listed the OS X requirement for the Music store as well. I have no problems with my 15gig in 9.2.2 (thank you best buy!)
