I like keeping it in the new cradle (used for file transfers and charging). But, when it's done charging, i don't like that the screen stays on. I don't want it to burn out.

any solutions?

I don't think the screen will "burn out." First, the backlight is not on. Second, my LCD wristwatch runs 24 hours a day and it hasn't burned out yet.

No, there is not. Turning it off by holding down 'play' while it's in there will revert to the battery status screen.

You don't need to worry about the screen, man. It's not like the limited-lifespan backlit LCDs, whose life was shortened by the use of a flourscent backlight. As long as the backlight in the screen is off, the display will last indefinitely (if not indefinitely, many years).

if you unplug the firewire, then you can hold play and turn it off
