So my older version 10gig iPod blew up last week, so I went through the warranty process and sent it back to Apple.

Today on my repair status page latest update says that the unit is being replaced.

Any chance, any chance at all i might luck out and get a new version 10 gig model?

I don't know. Unless stock of the refurb ones is depleted, probably not. You'll get one with a brand new outer case (looks brand new) but refurb innards.

LoL, if I were you, I'd *HOPE* for an older model, of course it's all personal preference though.

I believe Apple has enough old parts/hardware for replacement, so you should receive the old/same 10GB iPod model.

I really don't think so, I am sure they have tons of the old ones about.
