Hi there,
I went to the local Apple shop the other day to check the new iPod and found out that firewire is the only option right now available to transfer files to iPod till USB2.0 seems to become available this summer. My question is my Sony Vaio laptop comes with a firewire but not a full size one Macs come with. So, the firewire cable that iPod comes with doesn't work with this laptop. Is there any way to get around this besides having to wait till June or July when Apple will have USB2.0 cable out for PCs?

is it one of those small 4 pin firewire ports?

the ipod comes with a firewire adapter.

Thanx for ur info. I didn't know such a thing comes with it. Now i got no reason to put off buying it. Thanx again.

the only problem is that those ports provide no power to the device, so it will not charge while plugged into the computer; you'd have to use the AC adapter to charge it (which you would have to do when USB2 comes out anyway)

Hey, guys, a friend of mine can't get his new 15GB iPod to work with the firewire port on his 9-month old Compaq laptop. He says everytime he plugs it in it crashes & was asking me for some advice. I still haven't received my new 30GB iPod, so I'm not exactly sure what to tell him. Sorry for the scant information, but does anyone have any suggestions I can pass along?
