think this is a good deal:

I hypothesized to my girlfriend that when the time comes I buy her a ring (yes, that one), if she'd buy me an iPod, seeing as I'd be spending thousands of dollars on that... she said she would.... not a bad deal is it? I should have made that deal with the Powerbook... why didn't I think of that damnit!! AAAAAHH!

I got engaged about a month ago myself and believe it or not, as we were looking through some bridal/wedding magazines (yes, this is the future you can look forward to while planning a wedding), the iPod was listed as a recommended gift for the groom. I wasn't aware of this, but I guess it's custom for the bride and groom to exchange gifts at the wedding (I'm so clueless), and the iPod is apparently a perfect one. Don't know if this helps you much for the engagement, though.

If you need any advice about ring shopping, e-mail or PM me. I did a ton of research and I am proud to say that my fiancee not only loves her ring, but that it also appraised for double what I paid for it!
