Just out of complete curiosity, does anyone know of any actual pics of an engraved iPod? I've yet to see pictures of one with engraving on it, and I'm just interested in what it looks like...thanks!!

You know the printing on the back of any iPod (model, name, serial #, etc)? Well, the engraving (laser-etching, actually) is done at the same time as the rest of it all, so it looks the same as the standard text on an iPod. Just bigger.

I got mine engraved with my name. Figured it might decrease the chance of it walking off by itself, if you know what I mean. It looks just like the rendering that the web page shows when you order.

wouldn't this also decrease the likelihood of selling/auctioning it off when a future generation comes out??

Absolutely, but when you engrave it you basically ensure yourself that you're keeping it forever...the best way to ditch engraved iPods towards the purchase of future generation models is with trade-in programs like at www.powermax.com that give you an equal trade-in regardless of whether you have nothing on it or your mother's pet's name on it.
