So since the new eMac's mice are no longer "Pro" do you think a real Pro is coming?

I sure hope so, and for goodness sakes, if you're getting a new eMac, get a PRO mouse/keyboard or a 3rd party one. I just saw them for the first time in person tonight at the Southpoint Apple Store and wow, the cheapest blew me away. The mouse and the keyboard were VERY low-quality looking, light, and very cheap feeling. Thumbs down Apple.

Well since "Everyone" wants them Apple sould think about adding them.
Personally I don't care but it is the oldest argument.

I think that the mac will not have two mouse buttons, because they may be accused of copying windows and PC's
Scroll wheel, yes
two buttons, no

Personally I don't care either since there are some very nice 3rd party 2-button mice available. It's more a matter of curiosity. What is the reasoning behind Apple's stance on the one button mouse, as opposed to offering an option? Is it a perceived usability issue they see with new users?

We don't need many things in life, however, there's an overwhelming amount of factual proof that dual mouse buttons would come in handy in an overwhelming amount of situations.

I would certainly love a two button mouse, adn it may even attract a few switchers. For example, everytime me Windows-brainwashed brother sits down to my computer, there's two gripes...
1) Where's the internet?!?!
2) I can't right click anything! Your mouse doesn't even have a button!
Maybe it's just me, but I think this may be a a switcher gripe.

They have also shown that people take longer to do most actions with 2 buttons even though they think it is faster.

ok think of this we change from one button mouse to a two button mouse - are we becoming windows users? - then there is a call for a two button track pad then our keyboard layout and no more apple there and so on and on and on

Yah, bull****. Right click is useful for quick copy, paste, or save as in Windows. Not as fast as CTRL-C, but a lot faster than Edit->Copy...a good intermediate step for users who don't like keyboard shortcuts.
Also, try using programs like Maya without three mouse buttons and you're screwed. Ditto for many linux apps and games.
You'd think it is written in the sacred book of Apple: "Thou shall not lay thy hands on a mouse with many buttons" the way people carry on about this. There's no need to ship as default, but for a lot of users multiple mouse buttons are an important feature and Apple should at least offer a "Pro" version to take advantage of people with that need.
I love my mac, but I'm happy to keep using my Microsoft optical mouse until Apple pulls their head out of their ass and offers a "Pro" mouse that lives up to it's name. /rant

OMG! My iBook turns one year old within two weeks, and I'm using a Logitech optical Mouse (OEM version, in a plastic bag, EUR 17 at a local computer shop) since day one. It beats my Pro Mouse, which always stuck when doing a "first" click...
Never installed drivers, scrolling works, right click also.... but clicking the scrollwheel does an Option-click!!! Comes in handy for Safari's tab-browsing...

I'm-a trying to wonder, wonder, wonder why you, wonder, wonder why you act so.

Scroll Wheel Addict. Thats me. When ever I use a computer without a scroll wheel on its mouse I go crazy. I have even resorted to taking my own mouse with me. I'm so sad. Please Apple, include a wheel.
At least we can all agree, those darn hocky puck mice are better off on an ice rink than in most people's hands.
