You should get a Wacom Graphire Tablet. It's a little more expensive (around 90 bucks) but it's really worth it. Once you try it there's no turning back. Maybe it's just me, but nothings beats it and the fact that it's pressure sensitive allows you to do things you cannot with a regular mouse.

i disagree - i think a Graphire is far to small - i use a A4 Intuos and that is great for designing, not as great for normal mousing type activities.

i strongly reccomend Logitech Mice, this is the MX300 for $29.99:

If you can spot another $20 the MX500 feels even better in your hand:

I use a Wacom Graphire 4x5 tablet daily on a dual-display setup and find it perfectly adequate for design work. I purchased it refurbished for around $50 and couldn't be more pleased with it. It has done wonders for emerging carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms I had in the past. I find the hand position for holding the sylus much more natural than any mouse, no matter how ergonomically designed.

I suggest going to an office supply or computer/electronics super store and trying out the various options yourself to see which one fits your personal tastes. Obviously, it will be different for each person.

If you're concerned about ergonomics, forget about a mouse...buy a good trackball instead. I think Kensington finally (after about 4 years?) came out with an optical trackball.
