Why no third-party games available for iPod?

It's great that Apple has added new games to the latest gen iPods, but I've been wondering why we don't see games available from 3rd parties. Is it a programming issue, or simply just no interest from developers?

I don't think Apple has released anything about how to program for the ipod, so people would be working blind. And yes, it's probably a relatively small market as well. I personally don't think the iPod is a very good machine to play games on. At all.

A marketshare of 600,000 iPod players isn't something to sneeze at. I'm betting no other company has developed games for it b/c Apple's not letting too many people programs for the iPod.
And Space Invaders would rock. Asteroids wouldn't be bad either.

Until Apple releases the iPod API's, no one will be making any games or other iPod apps. Simple as that.
Oh, and PacMan on iPod would rule!

If Apple were to release APIs, games would not be all that would come.
OTG playlists would happen for all iPod. Many many requested features would start showing up over night from the opensource community. It would be a god-send IMO. It believe it will also be a cold day in heck before Apple does such a thing.
I am enthusiastically watching the Linux on iPod effort as the way to see these things happen.
On the flip side of things, I am AMAZED that no PDA vendor (like Palm) has coupled a PDA with a hard-drive.
The iPod is slick as it is.. but wow it could do so much more(IMO)
