For $22. delivered - I got 64megs of flash memory in this little keychain gizzmo. It mounts OK with the USB...I'm running OS 9.2..and I can see it well enough, but when I use "get info" it shows the format is "Mac PC Exchange (MS DOS)" and is quarter loaded with something I can't see...and locked so I can neither dump the contents, nor add to it. ....I can't even change the name or icon?!

I was thinking about the old days when; "Do you want to initialize this disk?" was handy. I was wanting to simply transfer files from work to home without dragging around the old external HD.

....any thoughts would be appreciated.

D.V. Century in Walnut CA sells them

Thanks

Jim

Are you sure it's Mac OS 9 compatible? Some of those are formatted specifically for Windows computers...I'd check the manufacturers website for tips of reformatting it.

Hmmmmm.... problem is: I don't know jack about PC. I'm Mac-Only since the Classic (still start it up just to remember how far we've come) ....the whole crossover thing is of no interest.

I run Jaguar at home and 9.2 here... The thing says; "driverless for OS 8.6-above.." And; it mounts fine...I can see it...even click and open it. It's just that I can't seem to use it.

Oh well, $22. is a helluva lot cheaper than a Ming vase scam on Ebay...

Thanks for the thoughts.

Still sounds like a formatting issue; it may not need drivers, but it may need to be reformatted, have you tried that?

Yeah, don't give up yet. Did you try to reformat in using the Disk Utilities? Since you're mac only (assuming that goes for work too) you can try and format it as HFS+, it would probably work faster. Hey, it's worth a try. I have a 128 diskonkey from the company with the same name, and I don't lose anyspace on it, and I have to go cross platform. I know how great these things are. And you can get them up to a 1 GB now, if you can believe that.

Disk utility in Jaguar says I cannot change it because it's a 'read only' disk. It will 'verify' but not repair or re-format. ...but I bet I can make it FLY! Thanks for the kind leads...

Cheers.
