Hi,

Just got a 15GB IPOD. First one. Is there any way to just play the songs checked in ITunes? I saw the option to only synchronize checked songs. However, I would prefer to keep the entire album on my IPOD. I just want a way to play only the checked songs.

off hand i can not think of any option on the ipod to do so.

what about selecting all of your checked songs in iTunes and then creating a playlists, let's call it checked, and then sync the ipod. the new playlist will go over to the ipod and you can play this through the playlists menu on the ipod, and you will still have all your music on the ipod.

Yeah, because (as far as I know) the "checked" and "unchecked" status of a particular song doesn't get transferred to the iPod, there isn't any way to do this. But I agree that making playlists is a good workaround.

Bummer. Thanks for the confirmation. I did try to create a playlist with all of my checked songs. However, then I have one big list mixing songs of different types. It's not quite the same. Sometimes I want to listen to an old album, but usually just the songs I have checked.

Playlist is almost an art form. But it can be really fun. "Road Trip" playlist, "Party" playlist, "The Love" playlist, "Ragin'" playlist and it goes on and on. It's a lot of work, but's it's really worth it. I spent countless hours retagging properly my collection and many other countless hours building playslits. I'm now glad I did. There's one playlist for every situation. It may sound tedious, but just do it.
P.S. I don't have "The Love" playlist (yet)

Well, if you happen to be a beautiful woman, I can help you with that one!

Anyway, you may also want to play around with smart playlists. You could, for example, have one that contains any song by whatever artists that you rated over 4-stars or something. It's really versatile, easy, and it can update automatically for you.

Too bad, I'm a guy...

The more you play with Smart Playlists, the more you realise how powerful it can be. Especiallay since v4, 'cause you can finally edit the Smart Playlists after they are created. I don't think you could do it in v3.
