Hi, I was just thinking, does anyone think that Apple will ever make a wireless iPod, I mean like a cheaper version of airport. That way they could sell wireless speakers and you could just transmit your music to the speakers.

Can you imagine, you walk into your house with your iPod in your pocket and the speakers immediately sense that the iPod is there and starts streaming the music (a bit like the itunes rendevous streaming example) to the speakers.

You could sit on your sofa and scroll the playlists on the iPod and it would play through your stereo.

Surely Apple could do this, if not via airport then maybe via bluetooth?

how cool would that be, anyone think apple will do this in future versions of the iPod?

Rumormill sez they're halfway there

<http://www.envestco2.com/macwhispers...ves/000066.php>

"The second dock product, possibly released at the same time as the "hi-fi dock," will include all of the above mentioned features, plus will add recording and playback of line input or microphone level stereo audio, as well as Rendezvous-enabled 802.11G Airport networking capability. This much we have verified with a high degree of confidence."

you could technically do this with an iTrip. you put a radio station on your stereo that you use on your iPod and then play songs through the stereo.

but yeah, if that rumor does indeed come true, it could be pretty interesting

Another thing, they could then release bluetooth headphones, that way you could keep your iPod in your bag and still listen to your music.

The headphones could work with other macs as well, especially powerbooks since they are bluetooth enabled so that when travelling you can listen to music from your laptop without wires getting in the way.

Worst idea ever. Think of the battery life in the headphones or iPod. One hour in each?

How is this better than just having a wire running from your backpack to your headphones? I don't find that it gets in the way at all, and I much prefer to be able to use any headphones I like and not to have to recharge them.

It don't yank on your ears when you turn your head.

It don't get snagged in things.
