Please help someone:

my usb mice don't seem to work anymore.

I use an ibook 500 running 10.2.6 and yesterday any usb mice I plugged in stopped working (I don't have an Apple mouse, so don't know about those). Other USB peripherals (iMic, PowerMate, Hub, Bluetooth) work.
I've tried plugging in the mouse both through the hub and directly on the port.
One mouse is a no-name brand, the other is a brand new Creative Optical Lite (with scrolling wheel). I believe OS X should be able to recognize either of these with zero-conf.

When i boot in OS 9, the mouse works (as a single button)

Any idea what could be causing this?

I would have thought you would have had at least basic mouse function through the OS X built in drivers...but;

Some mice like Logitech, need extra drivers for full functionality... They come with a CD that installs an extra 'control panel' in system prefs that sorts everything out...

May be worth looking if you missed a software install or something...

Hope you get it sorted,

Marc

I think it might be something wrong with the kernel extension that handles mice, or at least in the way the OS recognizes mice.

I don't think it has to do with the mouse, i've tried several including ones that worked before. they should work now.

it's either a conflict with some software or something wrong with the OS (a corrupted system file?)

Thanks for the help though
