I just picked up the 15 today, wow! The old 10 wasn't comfortable in a suit jacket - this one will be fine!

The dock is a great idea, especially the line out...

My dad just bought a new 10 gigger slim model one today (BTW, one of the new iPod games reminds me of one of the old games on the 128k, I think it was called Airborne!). I love it compared to my old 5 gig original iPod. I think it might be time for me to upgrade

i thought you disliked the new ones. i remember a post a while back where you said that you were happy that you had the old style because of the fact that you can use any firewire cable with it and not the proprietary one.

Oh so true, hence I'm not selling my 2nd gen. iPod, and you must have missed this post of mine concerning the Dell deal on the new iPods:

--AHHHHHH NOOOO!!!! THE ADDICTION CONTINUES!!!!!!

WHY oh WHY have I fallen into this blissful, yet bittersweet, trap of loving Apple stuff, and tech-devices in general for that matter?!

Geez man, when I first saw this thread posted at about 3:30pm today I just brushed it off and said "Whoa, that's an insane deal, but I just don't need a new iPod..." Well, the thread kept re-occuring in my head, and I completed my massive load of homework, went to an awards banquet, and a few other random places, and I sat here at 10:59pm with it still burning in my mind, so I checked and saw already that Icruise had given in as well as a few others, and my resistance fled, I couldn't take it anymore, the deal was too insane to pass up.

So I justified my thoughts with the fact that I just made about $150 or so off of selling some random stuff around here on eBay, and so that's nearly half of it, and well needless to say, I hopped over to Dell.com (bleh, lol) and plopped a 15gig iPod in my cart (I honestly have no need for a 10gig 2nd gen. and a new 30gig iPod, just don't have nearly that much music or cash) and although the deal on the 30gig was tempting, I love my 2nd gen. WAY too much to sell towards the purchase of a 30gig. And I went to the CD-RW media (which I'm actually in need of) and picked up a 10-pack of CD-RW's for $7.26 (it showed like $6.36 or something, however in my cart it was $7.26, lol, but I'm certainly not complaining over that dollar) and plopped that in my cart also. It was now about 11:05pm and I'm really hoping Dell's site hasn't killed the deal yet, so I rush to checkout and I'm relieved to see the massive discount appear, however it really stunk to hafta shell out $22 for lame NC Sales Tax, but ah well, $343 for a new 15gig iPod and a 10-pack of CD-RW media is still a killer deal, plus I got free ground shipping.

So as of now, about 50 minutes before this deal ends, I'm awaiting a 15gig iPod. ARGH (happy and sad that I gave in, lol)! And I'm not terribly fond of it's appearance in comparison to my 2nd gen., but the new games, backlight buttons, and the other cool neat inclusions on it just pushed me over the edge. Plus, I've got a new iPod event t-shirt, and I can't wear the shirt w/o the iPod that's on it, eh?

The greatest part is I'm not getting rid of my 2nd gen. iPod which I adore, so it'll be swank to have both. I'll most likely end up giving my 10gig to my girlfriend as a gift, but I've got awhile until her birthday.

So after this rant, I just wanna say THANKS to the poster who led me onto this amazing deal, and also, just realize you made me spend $343 that I REALLY DIDN'T NEED TO SPEND, lol, but I'll love every note of it. --

dammit.. i still can't believe you ordered after me and you're one of the ones who's iPod has shipped already. i have to wait another 2 weeks!

edit: as for your more recent reply, saving $80 is enough to justify spending $343 for something you don't like, or even need? damn, you must be able to justify any decision. i wish i could do that so i had all of the gadgets i wanted (as if the 12" PowerBook and soon-to-be iPod weren't enough) but, alas, i like my bank account to have a little more than lunch money in it

On the flipside of all the above posts, I'm feeling like a loser for buying a 10 GB for $299 from a brick & mortar Apple Store on Saturday. I seriously considered getting a 15 GB from Dell and putting my brand-new 10 GB on eBay.

I decided against it because of the hassle factor. Additionally, my old 5 GB original iPod was barely full. Doubling its capacity with the new model will certainly give me a couple of years. By then, the Rev. 3 iPods with the color screens and the espresso makers will be out.

Bottom line: I don't need 15 GB.

It's like buying a new computer or a car. Probably not smart to look at new deals right after you've made the purchase. There will always be something better around the corner. Just like with women. (Getting married in 31 days)

MaxPower2K3, don't get me wrong man, I said I don't like the pure cosmetic appeal of the new gen. iPods *quite* as much as the 2nd gen. ones, but that's not to say I don't think they're killer devices. And sorry to hear yours hasn't shipped yet...at least you got an order in before Dell removed the iPods alltogether.

jdhindes, congrats on your new iPod! You'll love it...it'll make you wonder how you did so long without it!

DigitalEl, congrats on getting hitched man! Best of luck to you & your lady!
