Just recently bought a sweet mouse you might want to check out if you're in the market for a wireless.

It's the "rfmousejr" by macally. Retails for around $45 bucks and is one of the better wireless options I found for the money. It's a "jr," so some people might not like the size but it has a nice heft to it (internal rechargable batteries) and is dual optical.

Comes with a docking station with extra usb port so you don't lose any ports. It's also a stylish white and grey to match your current mac setup. The only thing I would have liked would be extra buttons on the sides for, say, foward and back commands while surfing. The macally just comes with two-buttons and a scroll-wheel

I'm pretty happy with it, especially considering some of the prices for the other wireless mice I looked at. Worth a look if you're in the market.

cheers,
brian

PS: just to pass on a tidbit of information concerning wireless mice and conserving battery life: I was researching wireless mice a few weeks ago and the biggest gripe from people was the crappy battery life from most of these wireless mice. One person wrote back saying that the best way to conserve mouse battery life is by not fiddling with a mouse out of boredom . . . just don't touch it when you don't need it.

I was guitly of it, too...I'd be reading a page of text on the internet and unknowingly be swishing the mouse around on the pad with my other hand . . . great way to suck batteries.

Just thought I'd pass the info on . . . since then I've kept myself from playing with the mouse and have had no problems with batteries dying.

I shelled out the cash for the Logitech MX700, and am very happy with it. I have been using it without drivers (keeps me from accidentally hitting the to thumb buttons), and it just works. I love the recharging, and since it is a 2nd generation optical the tracking in phenomenal.

Expensive, but worth it.

There is a rfmouse, it has extra buttons and is the normal mouse size.

Whoa, that's the same exact mouse I have, only the full size. Well, and the styling's a bit different.

Not a bad mouse although I'm beginning to realize the allowable distance is very short. I'd estimate a rather shameful 1 foot and a 1/2 from dock-receiver to mouse . . . which isn't very much. You could extend that distance by unplugging that little receiver from the dock and using one of the usb ports on your keyboard, but my ports are at a premium as it is.

Psh, I might be returning yet another periperhal device . . . does it ever end???

Thanks for the link, Peter
