I misunderstood what this was at first. There was a protype of a device that allowed you to use the iPod as a remote control a while back, but I thought that was kind of pointless (it used sound files to activate the various commands and was pretty clumsy compared to a real remote).
But yes, having a wireless remote does have some advantages. Although if you believe the rumors, Apple might be developing one themselves.

At first it seems as useful as the car stereo's with remote controls!, except you can get more than 2 feet away from your iPod and still be using it.
I use mine as a stereo to wake me up/go to sleep with along with its portability, and I'd definatly buy one if there was such a device. It would be very nice if it was built right into the dock as well....

right now, i am not using my ipod as a portable, it has been hooked up to my stereo for the past 3 weeks. i would love to get this, so i can have one remote to control my music volume.
Who needs a 5 disc CD changer when they got a 1000 songs at a touch of the button 20 feet away.
