I would imagine this is somwhere on here, but I couldn't find it in a search:

I have a 5GB iPod and about 20GB of music. That's fine for me, I check and uncheck them to determine whether they go to the iPod or not. Great.

However, whenever I want to listen to something in my library that's not checked, it won't play unless I check it off or click it manually. However, I have to make sure that i don't forget that I did this, or my iPod won't sync.

Does anyone know how to keep the checkboxes as I have for automatic syncing and also listen to uninterupted playing on my library on my desktop? Other solutions?

Personally, I wouldn't just check and uncheck songs to determine which go on your ipod. I think it is better to either set up one or playlists that automatically get synched, or to just set it to manual and drag whatever songs you want at the moment to the iPod yourself.

Interesting thoughts.... So might you have a playlist that might just say Sync that contains 5GB of files and have everything checked? I really don't want to do the manual dragging, but perhaps I will have no other option.

I usually have a base of songs i want on the iPod at any time and only delete a few every time I want to add more songs to the iPod and don't have room. So the checking makes sense. I wish it would just let iTunes play everything

Just have two playlists that automatically sync with the iPod. One for your core songs that you always want on the iPod, the other one is where you add and delete songs that you only want some of the time. Trust me, this is much easier than manually checking and unchecking songs.

Another option is that you can create playlists for each of your artists (using smart playlists makes this a tad easier, and you don't have to add things manually to the list when you get more songs later). Then just go into the iPod options and check and uncheck the individual playlists you want.
