I have a new 15 GB iPod and the dock is connected to one of my Firewire ports. When I shutdown the iMac DV (slot-loading) with the iPod still in the dock it will continue to charge, despite the fact the iMac should be off, same for when the iMac is asleep.
However, sometimes this goes wrong, and the iPod keeps restarting the charge cycles - backlight goes on, the lightning bolt on battery flashes, then backlight turns off, then the lightning bolt keeps flashing on and off and I can't manually turn off the iPod when it is in the dock. The same thing happens if I put the iPod into the dock when the iMac is already shutdown.

This is really annoying because I need to charge the iPod of course and I want to use the dock as a place to store my iPod when not in use for convenience sake. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Tom.

PS: Additionally iPod will not connect to the iMac when my EZQuest Boa CD-RW is plugged into a Firewire port at the same time. It really is quite irritating.

my tibook provides no power to the firewire port when it's shut - so the ipod doesn't charge at all when it's in sleep or powered down.

yet, i have a usb light that works when the pb is asleep. i use the pb kinda like a clipboard with a light, and the usb port provides power when the pb is in sleep - but not shutdown.

but my other usb accessories (keyboard/mouse, usb hub) all power down when the pb goes to sleep.

weird.
