Will printer with USB 2.0 port work connected to 867Mhz TiBook?
I want to buy one of Canon's printer (i550) which is equiped with USB 2 and parallel ports.
I realize that the speed will go down to USB 1.1 level. Is there any other issue to think of?
Thanks in advance,
Mac-iek

I don't see any problem using Canon i550 with TiBook. In fact, I checked with this Canon i550 specification page, and it says it is compatible with Mac OS 8.6-9 and 10.1 onwards.

Canon's half-lying about its USB ports anyway. They are listed as "USB 2.0 full speed".
Guess what? USB 2.0's full speed is the same as USB 1.1's full speed! (In other words, it's not a USB 2 port, it's a USB 1.1 port.)
USB 2.0 High Speed: 480Mbps
USB 2.0/1.1 Full Speed: 12Mbps
USB 2.0/1.1 Low Speed: 1.5Mbps (I think. it might be 1.2Mbps)

Mac-iek,
You shouldn't need to worry about the usb 2.0 compatibiliy with your TiBook. It'll still function as a normal usb even without 2.0 ports on your notebook. You just won't be able to take advantage of the 2.0 speeds
When the heck is apple planning usb 2.0 updates on their machines, anyway?
sheesh.
cheers,
brian

USB 2.0 is fully backwards compatible. You won't notice any difference in speed with a printer.
So yes, it works fine.
