How much does it says you get off. Read it and its not actually the price it says.

http://www.apple.com/education/hed/students/bts/

now look at this price

if you click on the button to add an ibook to your order it then gives you the option of adding an ipod and a printer to qualify for the $300 off.

obviously i did not click on check out to see if there was any 'thank you for your order, please expect a rebate in the mail' notification. but i will trust apple.

I just want a ipod with 300 dollars off. But it says ipods are 200 and cannon printer is 100 dollars off. Dang. The main page says 300 dollars off a laptop, ipod or printer.

no it doesn't. if you read it (carefully or not) it says you get $300 back when you buy a laptop AND a canon printer AND an iPod

so just add the iPod then, but you need a laptop too, you can't get $200 off just the iPod.

Point #1 -- The main page clearly says that you must buy a laptop, an iPod AND a printer to get the $300 off.

Point #2 -- Only a moron would think that you could get $200-$300 off of a $300 product (ipod).

Well, this kind of advertising would simply not allowed in EU counteries or Australia!

If Apple wants to run that kind of promotion in Australia, they need to change the headline to "up to $300 off", and they would need to put in a note at the bottom of that web page explaination exactly how to get $300 off, and they need to put a star or something right next to the handline to indidctae there is a condition note, so that people can read at the bottom of the page.

It's unfortunate the US laws are not that tight in terms on sonsumer rights.

What am I missing here? It seems pretty plain to me... You buy an iBook or PB, WITH an iPod, AND WITH a printer, and you get $300 back. It's obvious that there ain't any shenanigans_going on with this deal.

Hell, I even let my girlfriend (who misreads everything) look at it and she figured it out at first glance.

The second line of the page:

"$300 off the best computer for college."

This line is misleading!
It should have been "Up to $300 off the best computer for college." to make it clear.

Also, the second paragraph it can be interrept by some people as either buy a laptop or iPod or Canon printer. Well, some people would say it's clear, but or some people it can be read it the wrong way. Apple should have state the condition very clear at the bottom of that page.

I disagree. Actually, I'm kind of glad it is this way in the US. It forces consumers to take care of themselves, and actually pay attention to what they're doing. There's noone to go crying to when you think you got screwed (but actually just didn't read closely enough). I like it that way because it keeps people on their toes.

There's a difference between consumer rights and consumer stupidity.
