30GB iPod Slower?

I recently got a 30GB iPod to replace my venerable 5GB original model. Honestly, it took me about a week and a half to get used to the new buttons. It was a tough adjustment for me as I have the original configuration down pat. I'm there, but now I am having a few problems. My iPod is a few gigabytes below capacity, which may be the source of one of my problems.

My iPod sometimes does not operate correctly. At times, it will show it is paused, however it is still playing. Hitting the play button does nothing but change the play/pause icon. I will have to hit the prev song button once, to break the cycle.

Also, sometimes when a song is playing, hitting the next song button does nothing. Even tapped repeatedly, it does nothing. I have to hit menu or some other function then return to get the function back.

There is a VERY SLIGHT static pop when switching songs with the next and prev button.

Finally, it seems that the more songs there are, the longer it takes when playing on shuffle mode.

Anyone else have this problem?

My thinking is that the sheer number of files may make the OS slower to respond. Also, almost all of that music is ripped (aquired) at 256kbps. Some is 192kbps, and a vast minority lower than that.

I'm thinking of swapping the unit out at Best Buy before my 30 days is up. But I dont see the point if these problems are software related. Anyone else having these sort of problems?

Oh, btw, I LOOOOVE my iPod!

Yup, all of these problems are software related and will likely be fixed in a matter of weeks (days?) in the forthcoming 2.0.1 firmware update. I guess they had to rush it out of the door in order to meet the April 28th deadline

Can you cite an official source for this?

I agree all the problems stated are software related. I thought mine was faulty and returned it for another. The second one is no different. I have learned to live with these glitches until 2.0.1 is released, which I hear will happen soon.

Just got my 30 Gb iPod a week ago and I have been plying with since then.

I have only seen the pop between songs, a small 3 hours playback (I play with my playlists a lot...) and freezes after a full charge.

It should be fixed soon
