I have a 5GB (1st Gen) iPod that I've had for 6 or 7 months now. The iPod is falling appart and I'm fairly certain within another few months it will be inoperable...

Most notibly the scroll wheel and buttons don't operate so well, and the plastic directly around the headphone port is breaking and half of it hass fallen out...

I'm curious if my warranty covers this type of damage?

I doubt physical damage/wear and tear will be covered under the warranty. Things like dying batteries or having the ipod crash a lot is covered (I had an ipod that crashed too much replaced).

My iPod crashes a lot too... I need to reset it every time before I start using it if I pause or turn it off for a few minutes (or longer)... Is this considered a lot or normal???
