I am starting a new thread to post best FM frequencies to use with iTrip.
Just post the city and the frequency you found to be the best. This may save many of us lot of time and effort.
Atlanta, anybody?
I am yet to find a stable, static-free iTrip frequency in Atlanta.

Wouldn't this differ even within each city, depending on terrain. In Phoenix, I could be in the foothills of a mountain or in the open desert... All within 30 minutes drive. I'd think this would be a hard thing to pin down on a citywide basis. Not hatin' on your idea, but just giving my two cents.

in any case, pick a frequency that isn't on or near the frequency of a radio station in the area, because that radio station may overpower your signal. transmitters like the iTrip are very weak, and usually can't constantly overcome resistance it finds on the way to your car antenna (i.e. your car). the idea is that you won't be able to take over the radio in the car next to you (that's against, or almost against, FCC regulations).
the static you hear when your iTrip doesn't power on through to your radio is actually random* radio noise generated by the universe.
if you can't get a good signal, i recommend a tape adapter from those portable CD-player car kits, or better yet, plug the iPod into your Auxiliary In on your stereo if you have one.
*the National Radio Astronomy Observatory ( http://www.nrao.edu/) is tracking these signals for patterns. if you ever get a chance to check out some of their huge satellite dishes, i recommend it.

For Eastern Atlanta/Decatur, I use 92.3. There is a weak station using that frequency, but iTrip takes it over.

Knoxville, 88.5 or 88.7 work best for me.

I have found if you can use the higher frequencies that slight whine in the back ground disappears. Anyways 107.5 greater Boston area, just outside 495.

Throughout the middle of Minnesota I stick to the lower range of frecquencies. They seem to work the best, and have the least need of change as I drive.

92.3 it is. I was having a trouble finding a clear frequency around Emory campus.
Thanks!
