There are knock-offs that look similar to the pro speakers, maybe you can seek those out. Also, I believe Griffin makes an amplifier that interfaces with the pro speakers. You can look into that item too.
Does anyone know more specific info about either of these two products?

I own both the Apple Pro Speakers and the PowerWave and I have to say that they make a great combination!
It is debatable how good the Pro Speakers sound (especially in the low end) but they look great and for most purposes are quite good reference speakers at medium volume.
The PowerWave is another great product by Griffin, an excellent sounding and extremely portable, all digital amp. I cannot recommend it highly enough! It's simple usb interface and ability to act as a stand-alone amp put it a legue of it's own. It can power any pair of speakers and now comes with proprietary recording software that is pretty decent.

But do they work on a PC....
Sound in the low region likely less good.
Customer will only use to to play sound so as long as he can have those nice goodsounding speakers on his PC, he will be happy...
If it doesnt record I donot mind, and he isnt going to do that anyway.

What makes the Pro Speakers work on a PC (or in my case a PowerBook) is the PowerWave. You will not be able to drive the Pro Speakers without the PowerWave!
I have only tried this combination on a old Sony Viao running XP and it sounds great! The low end will be the same on any Mac or PC as it is a all digital signal coming through the usb port.
