I was at iPodlounge the other day and there was someone trying to put together an open letter to Apple and wanted to collect $1 from everyone to put up a billboard near Apple saying something to the effect of wanting Apple get v2.0 of the iPod software on 1G and 2G iPods.

My question is directed at those of you that have the older iPod. Do you really care weather or not you have v2.0 on your older model? I personally don't.

Stop being whiney biotches and wait. They will release new software for your dirty iPods. Just be patient.

Can't say I agree with that $1 idea, but yes I would really love to get 2.0 on my 5GB iPod. That alarm clock would be invaluable to me. (So would Solitare)

I seriously doubt Apple will release anymore 1.x updates. (unless a new version of iTunes requires it, etc.)

I agree, this is the petition, and the link to ipodlounge were I found the thing about the dollar.

The guy is saying his iPod is obsolete. I think b/c of his reasoning he might be retarded. I don't see how he can say it's obsolete. What, does it no longer play music? What is he missing, a game and a few interface options, and an alarm? Personally I just need the iPod to keep doing what it's been doing since I bought it, play my music.

Well if it makes you happy I never use any of the new iPod features, I used playlist on the go once and it was cool though.

I forgot about the crappy games.

Actually I really was just looking to see what the MacNN community thought when I read about this guy. It's not something I am taking a stand on it, it was just something I was wondering; how most people feel about it since I personall don't care. That is not to say if Apple released it today I would not downoad it, just that it's a non-issue for me. My point is that this guy spurred the question, but that is not the point of the poll. Perhaps I should have left the story out of it and just asked the question. Oh well.

It would be nice, but it's no biggie. I would only use on-the-go playlists rarely, and solitaire isn't exactly a dealbreaker. I have no use for the alarms, either.
Besides, I'll probably end up getting one of the new ones anyway.
