I'm an avid snowmobile guy, and am looking forward to this winter, sledding (and snowboarding I guess) with my new iPod. Anyone have any problems doing winter sports with an iPod?
I'm guessing as long as I keep it inside my coat (inside breast pocket) It should be warm enough right?

Ya, so are my little Motorola FRS Radios, but they have a picture of a skiier on the package.
Any real help out there?

I've been skiing with the iPod (~10 degrees) without any ill effects. I kept it in a front inside pocket

It gets pretty cold here (Montreal) and I find that the iPod (first generation) works very well. My only suggestion would be to get some new earbuds because they tend to "freeze up" a bit and the cord gets almost inflexible.

I have my new 15 Gigger now so we shall have to see how it performs in the winter here.

Cheers,

Sander
Have a nice day!

yea the only problem you might run into is shorter battery life in the cold otherwise you should be good.

Do you really think it is "freezing" in your inside breast pocket? Cuz then you got other probelms.

I know there have been a few problems with people running or jogging while listening to the iPod.
This may be reaching a bit, but anyone have any luck snowmobiling with one? I work at a snowmobile tour place during the winter.
We had a guest take out one of our sleds, and she had an iPod, but I forgot to ask her when she returned if it worked well or not....

I'm reaching, I know, but can't hurt to ask....

Burton (I think) makes a ski-jacket just for the iPod, so snowmobiling is not much of a stretch. Your iPod will stay above freezing inside a coat near your body and it can handle the jostling, it''s got a half-hour or so of skip protection from what I understand.
