I've had an iBook 600 with an airport card since Nov 2001. Yesterday, it stopped receiving airport signals. I have an iMac with an airport card and it receives the signals at full strength, so I can rule out the base station.

I removed the card from my iBook, thinking the wire to the antenna might be loose, but it didn't help. The Apple System Profiler lists the card so I know it's seated okay.

Any ideas?

The card could be bad. If you feel like taking some things apart, you could exchange it with the card in your imac to see if it works there. If it does, it could be that the antennae itself is broken.

Before I got around to trying the swap, I found it was working in my iBook again. Then it wasn't. Then it was. Etc. It seems to work about 5% of the time. It'll be working and then just go to zero. same room as an iMac that has no problems. Seems like a loose antenna wire, would you agree?
