Hey everyone.

I have a 5gig iPod (First generation a believe, scroll wheel anyways).

I have had no problems with it besides the occasional freeze..but now I think I am in trouble.

I haven't had my iPod plugged in a few days..and right when I was about to leave for work I decided to take it with me, but the battery icon flashed indicating a low battery, so I left it at home.

When I got back tonight, I plugged it into my iBook, and waited. Nothing came up, no display, no hard drive spinning up, nothing.

"Ok, so I will just do a restart. Simple"

Unfortunately that didn't work. I then tried plugging it into my wall...still nothing. Tried resetting it then. Nothing.

I think the back is getting warmer, but it could be my imagination, but I don't think so.

I have some important work and school files that would be disastrous if i lost.

Anyone have any tips on how to get my iPod working again?

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance,

Chris Gilpin

Well now it works..left it last night unplugged, than just plugged it in again...phew!

Scared me though..should i call apple and tell them my problem? I don't want my warranty to run out and have it happen again, permanently.

Glad to hear you got it working, however, if warranty is still left, I'd call Apple and tell them you're having issues with it. At best, Apple may replace your iPod w/ a 10gig one!

That would indeed be cool, but I'm sure they will still have some old 5 gig ones lying in stock somewhere for situations just like this..anyone have any experience with situations like this?
