Hi, My computer will not recognize my ipod.. when I plug it in. It says do you want to initialize this 5gb hard drive. It used to only do this on 0s 9 machines but now it is doing it in os x. I don't want to reformat because I would lose all of the music.. is there anything I can do?

You could try DiskWarrior or Norton Disk Doctor to repair the drive, but lloks as though you will need to zap you iPod. Try resetting first - hold down menu and play (I think) for a few seconds to reset.
