Has anybody tried to iSync the Sony TG50 CLIÉ™ Handheld with a 17-inch PowerBook via Bluetooth™?
I have the latter, but am considering purchasing the former because of its Bluetooth™ technology.

Check out www.markspace.com , the website of the people who make the Missing Sync, which lets Clies work on Macs.

P.S. What's up with putting ™ on everything? This is a forum, not a prospectus! (Even in a magazine, website or newspaper article you don't have to use ™ and ®.)

I've just always wanted to do that . I got the same comment in college when writing course papers.
There's really no special reason; I just used to have a roommate in college who used LaTeX, a high-quality typesetting system, with features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation, for writing computer science homework, and his assignments looked so professional and authoritative. Ever since then, I have wished to be able to produce professional-looking documents on the fly like that. So, ever since then, I have become fascinated with typography, and have wanted to make everything I write (even my own personal diary entries!) look professional.
I am the kind of person who peruses books such as The Mac is Not a Typewriter (a Mac typography book) for fun in my spare time, and who takes great pains to differentiate between serif and sans serif fonts. I've always been fascinated with typography, and have even recently visited a typography exhibition.
Using ™ and ® makes me feel just a little like a professional publisher or typographer, and that's fun! (In fact, I even put ™ and ® and use both serif and sans serif fonts in my handwriting in my own personal diary entries, which only I myself read! ) One day, I dream of perfecting my handwriting to the point where I can mimic professional fonts consistently, so that all my handwriting will look computer-generated, and of eventually publishing an anthology of all my personal and professional writing, including all my postings to all my newsgroups. It's my way of practicing my professional publishing skills.
In fact, I am currently reading The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, by Edward Tufte, to learn the theory of designing elegant tables and graphs to go along with elegant textual design. One reason that I enjoy Macs so much is that they seem to be great for desktop publishing. They are very graphically-oriented, which makes them very suitable for anything related to design.
However, if it annoys you, let me know, and I'll revert to regular vanilla typing. It's just that, from a typographical viewpoint, it wouldn't look very publishable for my upcoming anthology. Besides, it's a whole lot less fun.

I sync the TG50 with my 12" powerbook with no problems, and in fact the newest version of palm desktop apparently allows for in-cradle syncing even without The Missing Sync. If you sync via bluetooth The Missing Sync was never necessary.

I am also considering buying a TG50, but the ability to sync with my mac is required. Are you sure it works seamlessly with the new Palm Desktop (4.1)?
You said it apparently does, so why aren't you sure? Or, are you sure it works fine with bluetooth? I'll have to get a bluetooth adapter for my Powerbook (a 15" model) then, but I should get one anyways.
This would be my first PDA. I'm going off to college and think it might be a good idea for something to have. So with this PDA, would it just connect to apps like isync, ical, address book to exchange the data? This all probably gets more complicated when I factor in sharing data with my cell phone (which is not bluetooth).
Or, am I getting too organized for my own good? This is off topic, but I'm not sure... I do already have a cell phone that is pretty advanced. Do people actually take notes in classes with PDA's?

I am using a TG50 with an iBook. The USB cradle syncs just fine with Palm Desktop 4.1 under Jaguar (10.2.6). I have not been able to setup iSync or bluetooth, yet. I am looking for a good tutorial on that.

When I bought my TG-50, palmdesktop 4.1 wasn't yet out and so I also bought missing sync. I still use missing sync and have never tried syncing without it installed. However, hotsyncing was spotty at best best before I installed 4.1, and it works every time now. I have also heard from others that 4.1 makes clies work without Missing Sync. Bluetooth always worked, even before 4.1 and even without Missing Sync.

Does The Missing Sync allow you to sync with iSync as well?

You no longer need the missing sync for syncing purposes, whether you use Entourage or iSync. As long as you have Palm desktop 4.1 installed you will be fine.
