Despite the fact that almost everyone I know owns a PC without any firewire, I ordered an iSight last week, and it arrived in the mail just this past weekend. Not a perfect design (especially with the sticky tab mounts for flat panel displays), but still likeable. I have heard that there's a camera out at Circuit City for only $79 that's comparable quality, but I'm a sucker for wasting money on design and form.

For those of you who bought an iSight, what are you using it with aside from iChat AV? iVisit? Anything else? What do you plan on using it for...business or pleasure?

Now that hacks are out that enable USB cams, I'd never even consider iSight. It looks cool enough, but so does mine--and it costs 1/3 iSight's price with comparable quality IMHO.

Speaking of hacks...any idea what ones are available for PC users with USB webcams?

Heh...comparable quality? No other webcam (usb or firewire, for that matter) have a 3-element lens with autofocusing capability. I'm sorry, but after looking at real-world pictures from other webcams (blurry, out-of-focus) and then those from the iSight, I was sold!

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output

My USB Cam.. (iRez Kritter) works well with the 3rd party driver.. but I am going to buy the iSight this weekend... since I need a microphone.

I tried it on my 300Mhz iBook... didn't work.
