I've used PrimeDisc doublesided media, but of course it's just like having two DVD-Rs glued together (except thinner). The onyl real advantage is that they take up less space than two DVD-Rs would, but since they generally cost more than two DVD-R, it's kind of a wash. There is also the problem that if your burn on either side fails, you've ruined the whole disk.
The Primedisc discs I have burn fine in my external superdrive in a firewire case, but refuse to burn in my powerbook's superdrive. Once burned, however, they play just fine in the powerbook too.
