I have a KDS rad-5 LCd hooked up to my tibook g4 (1st gen).

I have sys prefs set to "mirror displays" in OS 10.2.6

Using the monitor's built in controls, I can change the contrast...colors...etc, but when I change the brightness nothing happens.

I can go from 0-100 and nothing changes..

Is this a problem with OS X or a a problem with the LCD?

I bought this LCD to use with a linux box I am building..but unfortunately not all the parts are here yet, and aren't expected for a few weeks (past the amzn.com return date).
So...I have no way of knowing if the LCD brightness control is brokebn or if OS X is just taking over.

Any ideas?

thanks,

M2

If you manually change the brightness on the LCD itself it should change, so OS X shouldn't be an issue.

Maybe we can get more input on this..

Well...

I turned off all the lights in the room.

I adjusted the brightness from 100 down to 0..and I BARELY see any difference.

I see a very slight change.

I am assuming the backlight should go from ON to OFF...Right?

This is how my powerbook's LCD operates...

I am guessing it's defective...time to ship it back to amazon. it's a shame too...very stylish nice LCD.
