Just an FYI to anyone in the market for a 30GB iPod. Dell has this deal going today only! (from dealmac.com):

iPod 30GB for $399 shipped __(9:46_am)

Several readers note that Dell Home offers Apple's iPod 30GB for $449.10 in its Software and Peripherals store. Apply coupon code "479FC56ACC2E" to knock $50 off, yielding a net price of $399.10. That's $5 off our last mention and nearly $80 less than what most other merchants charge. Shipping is free. Offer ends today.
I was actually going to get one tomorrow from CompUSA, but this deal came alone, so screw you CompUSA!

Last time this deal came around I snapped up six of them and sold them on eBay for at least $475 each. There is profit to be had if you can afford the initial investment

I've been looking to buy a 15 gig, so I just bought this one for 399 and will sell it as soon as I buy. Hopefully this way I can save 100 on the 15.

edit: I sure hope they ship faster than the last batch from dell *crosses fingers*

I placed the order this morning and tried to get "Next Day Shipping", only to find that it is slated to actually ship on the 22nd. I found out from calling Dell that "Next Day Shipping" actually means "when we decide to ship it, the item will get there the next day". So I am now on hold waiting to change my shipping to the free ground. Looks like these might be the same as the last batch.

Oh well, it's a great deal. I can wait another week or so.

yea, I just got my order confirmation and I have the same ship date of the 22nd. Unfortunately I got the standard shipping so I probably won't see it until the 27th or so.

That's really odd. You can find the iPod, with the discounted $50, but if you go to the product detail page, it's not there.

Maybe it's an overload thing..?

Buyer beware, guys. I got sucked into this the last time it happened and cancelled my (back) order.

Here's the thread. I'll never buy from Dell again.

Famous last words... It took them about 6 weeks for them to ship mine from the last sale.

Yeah, a coworker of mine got a 15GB from Dell the last time they had a deal. He waiting quite a while.

According to an email I just got, my order was scanned and is slated to arrive on Monday. Which is much sooner than I originally expected. Is this just part of the process, and it will still be delayed?

Do you guys think it will be awhile before Apple updates the iPod again? Just curious.

I ordered from Dell today and they claim it ships Tues, we'll see.

UPDATE

Well what do you know, Dell came through pretty nicely on this one. I ordered last week, on the day of the sale. I had originally chose "Next Day Shipping" and changed it to the free Ground Shipping because they listed the SHIP date as July 22nd. Well, I don't think they got my request to change to the Ground Shipping, because it actually ARRIVED today! It was listed as SHIPPING today, but to my amazement it showed up today!

Needless to say I am very happy with that. Maybe they learned their lesson from the last batch? Anyone else get theirs today, or find that it shipped today like they said it would?

I got the standard shipping, and today UPS has "received billing information" and I have a tracking number. So even though nothing has really started moving yet, I feel like I should get it soon without the problems of the last dell batch... thank god
