Well I was wondering if there was a way I could use my P800 phone to send and receive faxes... I don't have my own phone line and I ripped out the modem that was in my dual gigahertz Powermac to install an adb port and it can't be put back.. So I was wondering if someone could send a fax to my cell phone (P800) and then through my dlink bluetooth adaptor I could transfer it and read it.... and also I was wondering if I could send something that is on my computer to the p800 and than fax that..
any info would be apreciated I don't want to get another phone line just for faxing.. Also do they make bluetooth fax machines that I could use my p800 as the front end?
Thanks!

Heh, I'm looking at the same dilemma; about to cancel my land line, since $40 / month just to send and receive faxes is pretty annoying.
I haven't had much luck configuring the Cocoa eFax program to use my 3650 instead of the internal modem. It can dial the phone, but that's all; I'm sure the correct modem initialization string would do the trick...
In the meantime, you might look into http://www.efax.com . It's $13 a month with unlimited receive + 10cents per page to send. It's not cheap, but it is cheaper than a phone line.

I think a lot of it will depend on your service provider. I have T-Mobile, and if someone sends me a fax, it sits on T-mobile's network. I can then go into voicemail and fw it to a fax machine, but it never sits on the T610 phone I have so I cannot transfer it to the Mac.

Well with 10.3 Panther coming soon with built in fax abilities i think this is a perfect opportunity for Apple to add functionality to .mac Basically they would add an efax like service to .mac...

I'm glad this topic came up. I've got a multi-function printer (HP PSC-2210),t68i (with T-Mobile service), PB 17, and no land line at home. Is there any way to plug the t68i directly into the printer's phone jack and use the t68i to send and receive faxes?

See my reply above. Tmobile (whom I use as well) does not directly send the fax to your phone. It is saved in voicemail. You can fw it to a fax number if you wish, though.
