Will it work as a webcam for other apps or just for iChat? If it only works for iChat that sounds like a really bad investment!

There are a lot of discussions about this on apple.com/support pages. From what I have read, iSight will work with Yahoo's IM program.

As long as iChat AV is installed. The driver for the iSight is installed in the system when iChat AV is installed.
