i came across this mouse at www.compgeeks.com and it looks just like a apple pro mouse, but with two buttons and a scroll button as well, and the kicker is it's a ps/2 - windows only mouse.
it's weird. i want it for my mac!!!

Why, this far into 2003 would you bother making a PS/2 mouse? Is that port even on PCs anymore?

Mice usually ship with a ps/2 to usb adapter, so you should be able to use this with your mac. If if doesn't come with one, ask a pc friend for one. I have several from all the mice I've bought the last 5 years or so for my windows machine.

Ah, thanks for reminding me jtc, I have several of these gadgets around the office--wait a minute, are they PS/2 to USB or vice versa? Never mind, all of my mice came with USB to PS/2 adapters, I don't think it works in reverse.
According to this item, it's a tad more expensive than the little adapter that ships with mice.

I don't care. I'm buying it anyway. I'll use it at the office.
EDIT: Whew! I've gotta get that impuslse shopping under control. Had I noticed that it was only $9.60, I would've bought it this morning.

I don't like it....It looks ugly...And it lacks the Apple logo, which should be on there since they got it from the Apple Pro Mouse.

ah, you're right. It's been a while since I've used one. I thought they were ps/2 -> USB.

It's a shame too, this mouse is well made. It can easily be disassembled to have the white part painted black, or Quicksilver gray.
The box says that there is a USB version. I'll be looking for it.
By the way, it feels exactly like the Apple Mouse. I was hoping it felt cheap and cheesy, but it doesn't. The only nit I can find is that the transparent cable has foil covering the wires. Oh, and the fact that it's PS/2.
9 bucks well spent. I wanted a wheel mouse for the office anyway.

this place has the mouse and claims it works with either PS/2 or USB... i don't know how reliable that info is, though.

Thanks for the link. If you Google 'USB Optical Scroll Mouse (Clear Acrylic)', every vendor but this one says it's PS/2 only. Their price is $5 higher, so that's the only reason it might be legit. I emailed them, I'll see what they say.
By the way, this is a popular mouse! Many vendors in the PC world seem to have it. Why are we just noticing it?

It says PS/2 or USB but a little further down it says, "interface - ps/2", so i don't think it is USB. I think their information is a bit dodgy.

In case anyone's interested, here is the reply for the vendor of the alleged USB version of this mouse:
From: Sales@digisuperstore.com [mailto:Sales@digisuperstore.com]

Subject: RE: CLEARMOUSE
sorry about the late reply. the answer to your question is Yes. our clearmouse comes with a ps/2-USB adaptor that could make this mouse a USB mouse.
Thank you
