Owners of the notoriously-incompatible QuickCam VC may be surprised to see that iChatUSBCam lists the VC as working with a "hacked macam driver." I suspect that this is probably a typo, but it would be great if it works.

I e-mailed the Ecamm folks about their listing for the VC and got a quick reply:

You are not the first person today to ask! I was not able to find either!
I will dig up the email from the person who reported this and find out for you!
Thanks,
Ken

Does anyone have any information on this topic? AFAIK there is no working VC setup out there. If I receive clarification on the topic from Ecamm I will post it here.

Got another reply from Ecamm (talk about good customer service!):

Apparently, the user who reported using the hacked driver is currently working with the macam team to get it into their next release.

So I guess we'll have to wait until that comes out.

Thanks,
Ken

Sucks that we'll have to keep waiting, but it's good to see that there is movement!

Strictly speaking, it's little to do with Ecamm, as all they are doing is lifting Apples embargo on USB cam usage with iChat AV.
Naturally, it's all about the cam driver itself. So it's Macam you need to be in contact with rather than Ecamm..
Good to know that Ecamm are helpful folk though.

Ecamm lists usb camera that have been reported working with the software and then lists the software that enabled it. Macam does not list the camera one which works with their drives so the original poster was inquiring about that.

Shoot... that's the camera I have... hope they fix that one...

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

Info about the qcvc internals. I wonder if there's a way to get a hold of that hacked driver tho
