For those who have experimented with iChat AV and DV cameras, it is not possible to use your DV camera as a webcam if you have a G3 processor. Even the latest G3's (iBook 900 mhz) does not enable this feature. You are obliged to have a G4 or higher. The Apple website does not clearly state this, but rather just gives the requirements for the iSight which are 600 mhz G3. All is not lost because the iChatUSB CAM application enhancer module enables the feature for G3 based macs. There are drawbacks when using this module however. While in a video conference, opening a window in the finder was horribly slow even on the latest 900 mhz iBook. Beggars can't be choosers.

So basically you are just confirming that there was a valid reason for apple to remove DV support from any G3 processor, and it wasn't just a dick move to sell more isights...

Yes. But for those who don't do anything while iChat conferencing, they can use the iChatUSB CAM.
