new iPod and naviPod...question about using when attached to Mac

I got my new iPod today and decided to get a remote for it since i will soon be "hooking up" my car w/ all things iPod. I hope to rid my car of CDs and just use my music collection. The naviPod seems like a great idea, but I also have a question.

When the iPod is plugged into the dock, and attached to my Mac can i play music THROUGH THE MAC using the wireless remote. I know that it is possible to do so when i have the external LINE OUT plugged in...but m question is, can I use it through the mac
