Hi, after reading some of the previous post of the forum, I had learn a few things but left with a few answer which have not been answered.

I want to buy a handheld for downloading web page and email to read on the go and achieve them on the PDA, database entry and if possible I would like to do some flexible efficient typing

There seem to be two PDA on the market that I'm eyeing now with the Wi fi capability.

It is the T|c and iPad H5550.

Which do you think will have the software to meet my requirement?

Thank you for you time.

Either one would work, once you add a portable keyboard of some kind.

That said, the PocketPC has a better selection of web-browsers. IE is just OK, but Netfront and ThunderHawk are much better than anything on the Palm side.

Neither of them have a decent mail client by my standards. But both do come with one that works.

You could also go with an iPaq or anything with a CF slot and buy a Wi-Fi card. If you have a Bluetooth phone, the Tungsten T will surf the web via your BT connection and download POP3 and IMAP email accounts. AT&T offers 1mb for $7.99, which would be great for on the go email and some light surfing.

If not, go with either the Tungsten C or any iPaq with CF or PC-Card expansion.

Why h5555? Other PPC has built-in wi-fi and most have CF slots that you can pop in a WF card (as low as $30). H5555 is mostly aimed at the enterpeise users.

I agree with others that both will fit your needs. I'd go with a PPC with a CF slot because of the expandability - WF, ethernet card, BT, GPS, modem, cheap media, etc.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know there is a CF slot for the PPC that will be able to extent the ability to WiFi. Guess my choice will be the PPC.

One more thing to ask.
Which PDA have a better text input using the pen?

PocketPC has more options. With a modern Palm you get Graffiti2 (which I haven't used, but I hear a lot of people complaining about it) and an on-screen keyboard. That's it unless you buy some expensive software. And remember, that since all but a few ultra spendy Clies have the graffiti area off the screen, the keyboard essentially covers up everything on the screen

With the PPC you get the "block recognizer" which is a total rip off of the original Graffiti. This is what I use as I find it the fastest. You also get a on-screen keyboard, a letter recognizer (which is kinda like Graffiti but you don't have to remember Graffiti strokes) and Transcriber. Transcriber is interesting because you can write whole sentences anywhere on the screen and it will recognize them. A lot of people really like it, but I just can't get the hang of it.

Actually, I think Microsoft licensed it. All I know is that Palm is the company that got into legal hot water for using it... Graffiti2 is only around because they were forced to stop using Graffiti 1.

Those 4 are the built-in options. There are also FITALY, T9, etc that are available on PPC. Most of them should be available on Palm as well. Also, remember that Transcriber works best if you write in cursive as oppose to printing.

I like the Transcriber but personally use Letter Recognizer the most.

Licensed or not, I'm glad it's there.

I just bought a Tungsten T2 and love it. As for graffiti 2 I really like it. That's probably because I've never used a Palm before now though. So from my perspective, it seems like most of the grumbling is because people had to unlearn their old way of doing things.
