depends. if the TiBook is plugged in, it'll provide power to the FW ports even if it's asleep. while on battery power, however, it doesn't provide any power to the FW ports while asleep. This is based on my experience with my 12" PB, i assume it was the same with the TiBook

This sounds like the way mine works too. Pity that it won't charge through the PB when the PB is plugged in but not turned on.
