Hey--

With all my other printers, I used to be able to adjust lots of things...

Mac OS X automacially recognized the printer so I never installed a driver.

anyway, I can change things like paper size... but I can't seem to change, say DPI and other things.

Right now it's priting too BOLD if that is possible... I don't want it to print that dark.. but when I change things in my program.. likes say make text white, it stil prints bold...

None of the changes I make with font seem to afface it... it does print out different fonts, but they all seem to be very dark.

Is there something I need to install?

I have a Lexmark E310 and can only pass on what I know from that.

1) OS X doesn't always pick the corrent Printer Description File for my printer (to give you all the available options). Open Print Center, select the printer and choose 'get info'. In the 'Printer Model' tab the name of your printer should be in the drop down menu. If it is not you need to change it so it is. If you printer is not listed then you need to get the most up-to-date set of files from Lexmark. Go to their web site and follow the instructions.

2) For my printer there are loads of features that are set up within the printer itself. I used to find that you could only set them in Windows but there are now OS X utilities (only found them last month). Again go to Lexmark site but, where it asks you to type in the name of your printer and operating system, ONLY TYPE the operating system 'mac os x'. This will then allow you to select 'Miscellaneous Software' and eventually a .DMG of tools. I think this the correct one. I can't find my original download at present.

Hope this helps, write back if you can't follow what I have written.

James
